The best stories are the ones you find in yourself. Maybe that's why Ulf K.'s characters all have a slightly autobiographic touch? Like his "alter ego" from his latest book "Dolomiti Years" and many more of his little melancholy yet curiously funny comic heroes. But wait! There are some dark elements among his creations, too, like the grim reaper who frequently appears in his stories. Ulf K.self published all of his comic books in the 90s. Today he is a wanted man and quite a few international publishers are interested in his work and distinctive style. The exhibition "ULF K. – poet among comic book artists" at Oberhausen's LUDWIGGALERIE shows his artistic development and displays more than 200 drawings and illustrations also collected in a catalogue. His stories – hugely influenced by franco-belgian comic artist and the rules of the "ligne claire", the clear line – scarcely use words and to be honest: they don't need to.
