Ryan Andrews is an American comic book artist from Southern California currently living in Japan. He graduated from high school and started working at a 3d animation company almost right away. His work has been featured in "Drawn!", an illustrating an cartooning blog and he is an Eisner Award nominée. Before Ryan Andrews starts on a comic story, he usually spends a lot of time sketching and scribbling ideas and notes. After that he works out a basic layout on larger pieces of bristol board in a few pencil drawn lines. For inking he mostly uses his favourite, a Kuretake brush pen and then finalizes his panels by colouring them with watercolor background textures added via photoshop to prevent the ink from smearing. His mixture of classical, experimental and modern techniques result in a very distinct, shadowy and mysterious style full of rich textures. He has been publishing his work on his blog for some time now, which means that all his comics are available digitally for free and in full lenght. They really are worth reading! His kickstarter project aims at pulishing three of his stories in a great book – where he thinks they belong, and we agree. In the Eisner Award nominated, 54 page story "Sarah and the Seed" an elderly couple is surprised to find themselves the proud parents of a rather large and mysterious seed. "Our Bloodstained Roof", is about a flock of geese falling out of the sky, staining a family's roof with blood (28 pages) and "Nothing is Forgotten" shows how a young boy is dealing with the loss of his father. This third, 88 page-long story is completely without words. Ryan Andrews has been working on this book for about a year and half, and is now ready to get it out with the help of a large number of fans including us!
